Meet Chef Virgo

Houston’s very own Chef Virgo started his culinary journey very different. Although food is his true love, his first passion is music. The Hip-hop and R&B culture shaped his world and to no surprise of his mother, he pursued a career in music first.

After graduating from Lamar High School, the Houston native along with his high school friend set out a plan to become the next Outkast. Under the moniker ATW, the duo produced many visuals, held live shows and toured with some of the industry’s hottest entertainers. Unfortunately, Virgo’s vision of becoming a hip-hop powerhouse was cut short when he lost his mother abruptly to breast cancer in 2010.

After the devastation of his mother’s passing, Virgo never took his music the same again and because of that the group disbanded. Struggling to find a place in life, Virgo turned to his other passions which happened to be women and cooking. It wasn’t long before many began to recognize his talent for putting different flavors together. After many friends urged him to take it seriously, Virgo finally gave in and enrolled into the Houston Community Culinary Arts Program. Classes were a breeze for Virgo due to his enormous talent and culinary skills. Cooking became something Virgo loves more than anything except for his mother and grandmother of course! Cooking reminded him of the music industry, and it is through food that Virgo found his rhythm and the love of his life. Together with wife Curvy Chef Sandy, whom he met at culinary school, Virgo has combined his love of food and music to create memorable dishes and experiences that feed the soul.
