Meet Chef Sandy

Sandra Virgo is a Mississippi native that grew up watching her Grandmother and Mother cook her favorite meals in the kitchen. Her love for food began at the age of 5 once Sandra began to request different foods for her grandmother to make. Her favorite is the homemade biscuits and it wasn’t before long that she began to inquire about the recipes for the foods she enjoys.
Sandra moved to Houston in 1996 and as her way to remember her childhood Sandra always found herself in the kitchen. Her passion for food was recognized by others through her famous fried chicken and the mystery that surrounds with the crispy skin. Soon, Sandra began to receive requests from friends and family to host dinners. The pleasure of seeing her food bringing people together gave Sandra the idea to pursue culinary arts as a career path but circumstances prevented her from pursuing her dreams.
In 2014, Sandra enrolled at Houston Community College Culinary Arts Program where she met the man of her dreams, aspiring chef, Church Virgo. While attending HCCS, Sandra was chosen to work under Chef Mark Cox at the March of Dimes Cirque Du Cuisine gala event. Sandra received her AAS in Culinary Arts and is a few credits away from obtaining her AAS in Baking & Pastry.
Sandra went on to marry Chef Virgo and together they’ve created the Virgo Experience that
combines their love of people with the one thing that connects us all which is food. Their
passion has allowed them to cater to a variety of clientele and create amazing gourmet dishes.
Some of their accomplishments include Mud Building 24, NFL football players, but their biggest accomplishment is the family they’ve created. The Virgo’s share two beautiful children Heaven, 13 and their newest creation, Supreme, 1.
Sandra plans to create a non-profit organization for the children of women that are incarcerated. She plans to combine her love of food and family to help others in need. Sandra says, “I am passionate about food. The tradition of it, cooking it but most importantly the sharing of it. Let food unite us all.”
